Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske, the Bosnian Serb power company, has no intention of ceding any part of its ownership in the Gacko thermal plant and coalmine to Croatia's state power company, Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP), the Trebinje-based company said February 13. "There is simply no basis for any such move," said EPRS director general, Branislava Milekic, adding that her company would ignore HEP's claim to one-third of the shares in RiTE Gacko.rnTwo days earlier, Jerolim Novak, HEP's director of joint investments, said that his company was requesting a share of the plant based on a contract on the joint construction and exploitation of RiTE Gacko signed in 1986. "HEP is even prepared to join the construction of the RiTE Gacko 2 project that is being developed by EPRS and CEZ, if the Republic of Srpska recognizes our one-third ownership in the first RiTE Gacko plant. We are ready for any type of cooperation," he said. According to Novak, talks on the fate of HEP's pre-war investments in RiTE Gacko, have been going on unsuccessfully for the past 10 years.
