Second Cogen Unit For Stirol

Stirol, a leading chemicals and Pharmaceuticals producer, has commissioned a second 25-MWe cogeneration unit at its plant in Gorlovka in the eastern industrialized region of Donetsk. With the new gas turbine unit, which will also produce high pressure, hot steam for its production processes, Stirol expects to meet around 70% of its electricity requirements from on-site generation. Stirol said that the company expects to reduce its energy costs by up to $8 million this year alone from the commissioning of the new station.rnThe new unit like the first, which was commissioned in November 2006, was packaged and installed by Ukraine's Zorya-Mashproekt. Both units comprise equipment entirely produced in Ukraine. The gas turbines were supplied by Zorya-Mashproekt with the generators designed by Privod, heat recovery steam generators designed by Kharkov-based Interenergo, and booster units manufactured by Sumy Frunze.
