The Russian government approved July 13 a 16% reduction in Gazprom's investment programme for 2009, to Rb775 billion ($23.7 billion) due to a fall in gas demand in the first half of this year. "The revised investment program will amount to Rb775 billion," Putin told a government meeting in comments broadcast by Russian Vesti TV channel. The company's investment program for this year had previously been pegged at Rb920.44 billion. In late June, Gazprom's CFO Andrei Kruglov said Gazprom might cut its 2009 capex by about 30%.
