ARP confirms Dobrogea wind plans

Austria's leading power company Verbund has confirmed its intention to build a 200-MW wind farm in the Dobrogea region near the Black Sea coast in southeast Romania. Slated for completion by 2011, the project will be developed by Verbund subsidiary Austrian Renewable Power and an undisclosed Romanian partner. The project is estimated to cost in the range of €240-300 million ($335.2-419 million) based on the current average cost of installed land-based wind capacity of €1.2-€1.5 million ($1.7-2.1 million) per MW, Verbund said.
