Sterling to drill Black Sea blocks

Canada's Sterling Resources looks set to start exploration drilling at its Midia and Pelican blocks in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea, having booked a jack-up drilling rig to drill two wells. Drilling had been delayed by a protracted dispute with the Romanian authorities over permits for exploration.Sterling said in a statement May 31 that it has contracted the GSP Jupiter for the drilling of the two back-to-back wells - loana and Eugenia - likely to start in mid-to-late September. The exact timing depends on the completion of an offshore drilling program offshore Turkey by state-owned Turkish company TPAO.
