Eni outlines renewable and low-carbon hydrogen plans in Egypt

Italy’s Eni has signed an agreement to develop renewable and lowcarbon hydrogen production in Egypt with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), it said July 8. Eni, EEHC and EGAS are to assess the technical and commercial feasibility of renewable and conventional hydrogen production with carbon capture and storage in the North African country, using depleted gas fields to store CO_2. The companies will investigate potential local demand for hydrogen, as well as export opportunities, Eni said.
