Achieving sustainable economic growth and securing the best possible Brexit must be the priority for the whole of the UK. MPA submitted a very detailed submission to the Treasury ahead of the recent Budget Statement. A key priority for QPANI was to ensure the Chancellor did not place a retrospective increase on the Aggregates Levy. The Levy has remained frozen at 2.00 per tonne since 2010. A significant increase of 20% to 30% would have a serious impact on the Northern Ireland quarry industry.QPANI had been working through our own Members of Parliament, namely Sammy Wilson and Nigel Dodds of the dup, to highlight the negative impacts any significant rise in the levy would create in Northern Ireland. We greatly appreciate the support and lobbying that both Sammy and Nigel have shown at Westminster on our industry's behalf.
