650-km Mexican Gas Pipeline Inspected, Recertified Within Eight Months

The 650-km Cactus-San Fernando gas pipeline system in Mexico was inspected and revalidated to its origi-nal design pressure in less than eight months. The whole process was reviewed and ratified by an approved certifying authority, which issued a Certificate of Mechanical Integrity, valid for 2 1/2 years. The line is owned by PEMEX and operated by PEMEX Gas y Petroquimica Basica (PGPB). The pipeline runs through five sectors (Monterrey, San Fernando, Madero, Poza Rica and Reynosa). The system transports more than 1,100 MMscfd (million standard cubic feet per day) of dry natural gas. The pipeline comprises 10 trap-to-trap sections — three in 42-inch diameter and seven in 48-inch diameter.
