G-P sizes up new technology

Georgia-Pacific Paper Chemicals (G-P) really takes "advanced technology" down to size—modified rosin-based sizing products. The company has developed several new technologies in this area that can help papermakers reach new production goals. According to Atlanta-based G-P, paper can be sized very effectively at neutral and alkaline pHs using rosin-based internal sizing products. The firm's NovaPlus and NovaExp products (Exp stands for "experimental"; it is so new, G-P has not officially named the product) are modified rosin based dispersed sizes designed to react with alum or other aluminum in papermaking systems with system pHs up to 8.5.
