60 Years of physica status solidi

Dear Reader,In July 2021 physica status solidi (pss) reaches an epic milestone:60 years of editing, publishing, distributing, and archivinghigh-quality materials physics and condensed-matter research.pss has witnessed six decades of tremendous scientificprogress that has changed the way we live. With semiconductorphysics laying the foundations for the development of computerelectronics and digital communication, it had a front-row seatwatching the achievements, innovations, and emergent needsof scientific publication. Present day digital-first publishingmeans that the service continues despite the pandemic thathas the world in its grip, with working from home and onlineteaching or meetings changing the ways we work. New technologyand organizational developments also deliver essential leveragefor pss’s traditional focus on speed. Thus, while we will dulycelebrate, we will not lose a step on the path towards the future.
