Corpus-based approaches to translation and interpreting: from theory to applications

Corpus-based translation and interpreting research has been recognized as an effective research methodology that has transformed statistical analysis within the discipline of translation and interpreting studies. The field's inception was marked by Mona Baker's seminal paper 'Corpus linguistics and translation studies: implications and applications' (1993). A promising research field, corpus-based translation and interpreting research has been used to investigate a wide variety of topics in translation and interpreting studies in the past two decades. Corpus-based approaches in translation and interpreting can be 'applied to inductive and deductive research, as well as product- and process-oriented studies' (Kruger, 2002, p. 70).
