HS2 construction materials by rail track asset risk assessment

This paper outlines the assessment process developed and the identification of risks and mitigations to future proof the North West and Central (NW&C) Region against the introduction of the High Speed 2 (HS2) Materials by Rail (MbR) spoil services. NW&C's Track (RAM) team were remitted to undertake the review to analyse the impact the proposed MbR freight services would have on plain line and switches & crossings (S&C), potential failure risks across the routes affected, and the impact on maintenance.
