AMD, which is shrinking its manufacturing process to 0.18-micron, will follow the Intel Coppermine design with a new chip and put a 256K L2 cache on the chip's die. This new higher-performance processor is code-named Thunderbird and will probably be sold at gigahertz speed. A low-end version for you kit builders will be released to compete with Intel's cheaper chips.
