Training for a revolution in passenger ship fuel

With the revolution of using LNG as a fuel in shipping comes responsibilities and competencies seafarers may not have. They have experience of working with heavy fuel oil and diesel, but not with gas fuels unless they have served on an LNG or LPG carrier. This has led to specialised training courses being developed that cover LNG as a fuel for IMO's Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW). LNG training also covers requirements from the International Code of Safety for Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code).
