Cape Town-based Nampak R&D is reminiscent of Q's workshop in the James Bond films as scientists and engineers work behind the scenes to solve technical challenges and contribute to the design innovation of packaging. Today, packaging must not only serve as the receptacle to carry the product, but must also protect the integrity of the contents, enhance shelf life, be easy to use, carry a low cost and reflect the lifestyle, attitudes and values which are integral to the brand. Nampak R&D, in conjunction with Nampak's divisions and customers, develops solutions that take all these elements into consideration.
