The long wait for a UK recycling facility for beverage cartons will come to an end later this year with the establishment of a new plant at a Sonoco Alcore mill.The reprocessing facility will be built at Sonoco Alcore's mill near Halifax and will be able to handle up to 25,000 tonnes of used beverage cartons every year.The joint-venture project between Sonoco Alcore andACE UK - the organisation that represents carton manufacturers Terra Pak, SIG Combibloc and Elopak - will harvest the cartonboard material in the cartons to be reprocessed into cores for rolls of clingfilm and textiles.
