An optimized packaging format that is landing on more and more store shelves is that of retail-ready packaging (RRP), which refers to packaging delivered to a retailer in a self-contained unit that's immediately ready for on-shelf product display without the need for assembling or unpacking. This type of packaging provides an attractive structure that both advertises and display a product. RRP continues to gain popularity and traction in North America, Europe and elsewhere as more and more retailers consider its implementation while others expand their efforts in the area. For Retail Ready Packaging: Research and Analysis, a recent report from PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, researchers conducted lengthy interviews with an assortment of brand owners, machinery manufacturers and retailers to learn what's behind growth in the market for RRP.
