Standards bring more flexibility to optical transport

摘要

Growing demands for transport of data requires adaptation of the existing transport facilities based on transport of digitised voice. This article describes the adaptations to the standard recommendations such that data can be transported efficiently using existing transport networks. This flexibility consists of the matching of the required bitrates by means of virtual concatenation, adaptation to changes in the required bitrate by means of the link capacity adjustment scheme and packaging the data to be transported by means of the generic framing procedure.
