'Automatic' HTML—Part 2 Creating HTML from a Database Program

You may have information from other programs on your PC or network that you'd like to see while using your Web browser. If that information contains Web-compatible data (such as URLs or email addresses), it would be convenient to view that information in a "clickable" HTML format. This column describes a general approach for creating HTML documents from virtually any database program. You can use a fixed length field database manager, such as dBASE or Paradox, or a text database manager, such as ProCite. You must have access to a database program that allows you to create custom report or output formats and that permits you to write the output from these formats to a disk file. Either the Paradox report designer or the ProCite "punctuation" files do this very well. This approach also requires you to know a very small number of HTML codes.
