These are interesting times for online searchers. I remember the days when I doled out Lexis passwords only if the lawyers asked really nicely and when learning how to search Dialog required dealing with a user interface that unhelpfully offered a mere question mark when I logged on. While we didn't appreciate it at the time, those were heady days for librarians. We were adepts in mysterious programming languages, we knew how to wrestle an acoustic coupler to its knees, and we had a ready reference collection literally at our fingertips.
