Wikis For Reference, Enthusiasts, And Government Information

In the last issue of ONLINE, I investigated using wikis to research health topics and community information ("Wikis as Legitimate Research Sources," November/December 2008, pp. 34-37). I found that wikis can contain much valuable data, although some basic evaluative techniques should be applied when deciding to incorporate them into your research toolkit. Again, looking at wikis from a content perspective rather than a purely technological one, in this issue I'm exploring wikis created for basic reference, for enthusiasts, and for government information.
