Re-use of the by-products of olive growing and olive oil production

Olive fruits, and hence olive oil, account for a minimal part of the biomass produced in olive growing and olive oil production as a whole. Olive fruits are in fact equal in weight to olive pruning brush while olive oil represents approximately 20% of fruit weight. The remaining biomass can be considered processing residue. If it is re-used, it can be considered a by-product. If not, it is defined as waste and has to be treated or disposed of according to specific rules and regulations.
