A New Mexico meeting of President Obama's"blue ribbon" panel on nuclear waste adjourned abruptly late last month after police escorted a protestor out of the room. During the hearing in Albuquerque - one of several the Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future is conducting to explore options for handling the nation's high-level radioactive waste - one woman testified who was concerned that the waste might wind up in New Mexico. The woman, Catherine Montano of Las Vegas, N.M, displayed a large map showing nuclear sites in New Mexico and grew increasingly agitated as she warned of the dangers of radiation.
