In September, the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant in Vernon shipped its first container of low-level radioactive waste to the West Texas site operated by Waste Control Specialists, LLC (WCS) of Dallas. Another shipment of a 30-gallon drum containing wastes from the University of Vermont and Burlington's Fletcher Allen Health Care hospital also has been received by the facility.
