In a report to the deputy prime minister of the Republic of Belarus, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says the country has taken positive steps on infrastructure for a nuclear power program-but should consider several issues, including disposal of radioactive wastes, more closely. The report was prepared by an IAEA Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) mission to Belarus. The report concludes that Belarus has made "important progress" in its development of nuclear infrastructure for a nuclear power program and that the country is on its way to being well-prepared to support the construction of a nuclear power plant.
