Kurion Acquires Vista Engineering Technologies

Kurion will effectively triple its staff with the acquisition of Richland, Wash.-based Vista Engineering Services. California-based Kurion develops technologies to vitrify nuclear waste. It also provides a material used to remove radionuclides from contaminated water, most notably at the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in Japan. The company will acquire Vista's technology and patent portfolio while retaining its staff. Vista CEO Phil Ohl will become the chief operating officer of the combined company. Kurion did not announce the cost of the acquisition.
