DOE issues final RFP for INL operator

The department of Energy has issued its final request for proposals (RFP) from parties interested in managing and operating the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), which is scheduled to come into existence next February through the merger of the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) and Argonne National Laboratory-West. The DOE has also issued a "request for information and expressions of interest" on the agency's strategy for development of a Next Generation Nuclear Plant (NGNP), intended to provide both electricity and commercial hydrogen production. Among its other missions, INL will be the lead lab for the NGNP.
