The impasse reported in our previous edition was resolved within weeks when EDF increased its offer by 9% and became the new owners of British Energy having settled for a payment of £12.5billion ($23billion or €15billion) for the privilege.rnThe 'privilege' consists of gaining the control of eight nuclear sites with the potential for using them for new reactor build thus placing British Energy "at the vanguard of new nuclear build in the UK and at the centre of the global nuclear renaissance" according to an EDF spokesman.
