France chooses two sites for low-activity waste investigations

The French government has chosen two communities in eastern France for investigation as possible sites for the long-term storage of low-activity radioactive waste. France's national radioactive waste management agency, Andra, announced the selection of Auxon and Pars-les-Chavanges, both near Troyes in the Aube department. Both sites will be investigated for a subsurface repository targeted for operation in 2019.
