From dismantling to rebuilding

I grew up on the West Coast of Cumbria so some major components of the UK nuclear industry were on my doorstep. During my A-levels I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to do a week's work experience at REACT Engineering's Into Engineering programme. REACT is a consultancy based in West Cumbria, operating predominantly in those days in the Sellafield Ltd supply chain. This early relationship continued; they awarded me a university bursary after I won a speaking competition and I then worked three summer holidays there as a project engineer. So by the time I graduated I was astutely aware of the opportunities in the nuclear industry and Sellafield site in particular. This stood me in good stead to get a place on the Sellafield graduate scheme in 2011.
