摘要

As more advanced and autonomous systems begin to be implemented across safety-critical industries, sourcing credible numbers to demonstrate their safety is becoming increasingly challenging. In the regulation and management of safety-critical industries such as nuclear, the As Low as Reasonable Practicable (ALARP) principle is applied. This requires that the risk shall be reduced so far as is reasonably practicable (SFAIRP) to ensure that the risk posed to society is acceptable. Quantitative safety models are considered to be one of the best ways to demonstrate that the risk posed by these industries is ALARP.
