Modelling of advanced flowsheets using data from miniature contactor trials

Advanced single-cycle flowsheets are being developed by BNFL to reduce the cost of reprocessing spent nuclear fuel. These flowsheets are being intensively investigated using experimental and computational methods together to minimize the amount of experi- mental work needed. This includes obtaining fundamen- tal data such as reaction kinetics and distribution data, operating miniature contactor rigs and using the high level modelling language, SpeedUp, for simulation purposes.
