Nuclear Energy and the'Green New Deal'

1.Driven by climate change concerns, the 'Green New Deal' has become more prominent in mainstream politics and media. 2.Nuclear power has a role to play in decarbonisation of energy supply and appears to be compatible with the Green New Deal principles. 3.In this paper the background and principles of the Green New Deal are briefly discussed along with some assessment of key related issues. 4.The use of energy returns rather than financial returns as a measure of effectiveness is also explored.
