New entrants to the nuclear industry are critical to our future and the Nuclear Institute is delighted to support the National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN) awards every year, both in assisting with the judging and in offering all the shortlisted graduates and apprentices a year's free membership of the NI. These are the professionals of the future and we hope that they and their employers will benefit from the value of an organisation that exists to serve their careers and their industry. Here are some profiles of shortlisted candidates in 2019, and how their career progressed in the year after they received their award. Being shortlisted for Science Graduate of the Year felt like an amazing achievement as it reflected how hard I had pushed my development throughout the graduate scheme. It boosted my profile within Sellafield Ltd as I received recognition from executive, technical and training leaders. The event itself allowed me to network with members of the executive team which led to further opportunities, allowing me to learn more about their careers and the business. I was also able to invite my chartership mentor to the event, allowing me to thank her and showcase her commitment to the role.
