It was an agony for atlanta Braves slugger Andres Galarraga to miss the entire 1999 regular season. He had hoped and prayed to get back in the lineup for the World Series against the Yankees. But after five months of chemotherapy and a month of radiation to combat non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Galarraga was too weak to take the field. He watched in dismay as New York swept the Braves four straight. "Sitting there not being able to do anything, that was tough," says the 38-year-old Venezuelan-born star.
