摘要

Bill clinton is sort of on a roll. twice in the past week, he turned his most troubling flaw—the lack of discipline—into significant, though perhaps fleeting, triumphs. He just couldn't resist horning in on Newt Gingrich's New Hampshire media show, so he invited the speaker to join him for a town meeting—which Clinton clearly dominated, in style and substance (Gingrich's disingenuous glucosity was enough to induce insulin shock). Then, unable to stick with his initial strategy of sitting back and allowing congressional Republicans to stew in their astringent budget proposals, Clinton jumped in and announced his own plan to balance the books—which turned out to be the most reasonable-sounding one so far (and had the additional advantage of provoking vast yelps of pain from the transcendently dopey congressional Democrats).
