Greece's finances deteriorated last week as many investors became convinced thatthe country, which has the worst budget deficit in Europe, could default on its debts. Some are even quietly worrying that such imbalances could threaten the euro zone itself.The pessimists can relax. Even in the worst-case scenario-Greece's quitting the currency union-the euro would survive, anchored by mature economies like Germany and France. A more likely outcome, however, is that the union remains intact-but suffers some major growing pains.
