Dwarfed planet

The object that usurped Pluto as the largest body in the outer solar system, ultimately stripping it of its planethood, may be smaller than Pluto after all. Eris was dubbed the "loth planet" when its discovery was announced in 2005. Hubble Space Telescope observations suggested it was 2400 kilometres wide, larger than the 2340-km-wide Pluto. But Eris is so far away - three times as far as Pluto - that even Hubble had trouble imaging it.
