Can site's low pay skew research?

Like businesses, scientists have also been lured by the compelling economics of outsourcing website Mechanical Turk. But some researchers are concerned about the ethics of the site's low pay culture -and how that may in turn drive tasks posted on the site to poorer countries, potentially producing non-representative research results. The site is an attractive prospect, said computer scientist Greg Norcie, until recently at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, at the Computer Human Interaction conference in Vancouver, Canada, in May.
