摘要

Venus, named after the goddess of love, is a tease. She swans around between the sun and Earth in an orbit that brings her closer to our planet than any other, and shines more brightly than anything in the night sky aside from the moon. Yet she remains frustratingly mysterious, in part because she is cloaked in thick clouds that for centuries left her surface to the imagination.
