Is beauty in the eye of the beholder - if the beholder is an algorithm? Beauty e-Experts is designed to help women work out what hairstyle and cosmetics would suit them best. The algorithm compares an image of their face to a database of 1500 images of women on fashion websites, and compares a range of features, such as facial proportions, to decide what styles would best suit the user. It was developed by Luoqi Liu at the National University of Singapore and presented last week at a multimedia conference in Barcelona, Spain.
