Israel continues to rain bombs on the Gaza Strip. More than 550 Palestinians have been killed and 3000 injured - about a third of whom are children. It is the deadliest period in the region since the Gaza war of 2008-9. As well as the obvious physical damage, Israel's attacks will leave a severe psychological mark on Gaza's surviving children. Three months after the last period of bombing ended, in January 2009, Abdelaziz Thabet, a child psychiatrist at Al-Quds University in the Gaza Strip, studied the effects of the bombing on Palestinian children.
