Dating is all about exchanging information. But if you've used a dating app, what you shared could have gone further than you'd like. Raymond Choo and his colleagues at the University of South Australia in Adelaide have shown that it is easy to hack into popular dating apps like Tinder and Grindr to reveal private data. They used a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone to create fake profiles on eight of the most popular dating apps in the Google Play store and then tried to steal data. They did this by capturing the phone's network traffic and trawling the apps' private directories on the phone.
