Proposals for an underground city beneath Amsterdam's canals were this week being considered by officials in the dutch capital. The development, Alternative multi-functional Underground Area Amsterdam (AMFORA), consists of the construction of 6M m_2 multipurpose space over six levels underneath the canals of Amsterdam, with links to the city's A10 ringroad highway. Outline plans for the development were proposed by Dutch consultant Strukton, architect Zwarts & Jansma and the Delft University of Technology.
