Network Rail to miss efficiency targets

Network Rail this week confirmed that it will miss its efficiency targets for its current 2004 to 2009 investment programme.rnThe track operator's target was to cut the costs of work carried out on the rail network by 31% during the five year control period.rnThe Office of Rail Regulation's (ORR's) periodic review of Network Rail published in October had predicted that the track operator would miss this, and make savings of only 27%.
