"We are incredibly lucky to be alive at a time when you can make a transformative difference to the future of all life on Earth". These galvanising words belong to Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac, in their book The Future We Choose. In it, they assert the need for stubborn optimism, arguing that holding a position of helplessness with regard to climate change is "fundamentally irresponsible". I have always been an optimist and I really think it is an important mindset to have. Being optimistic makes me feel better, but I also believe it transmits to others. The belief in the possible brings others with us, making things that might have been hard to achieve alone easier.
