Artificial neural networks have attracted many researchers due to its wide and important applications in the fields of pattern recognition, signal processing, optimization and associative memories, image processing and so on. The aim of this special issue of the Neurocomputing is to foster the interchange of information on the latest development and applications including novel classification and learning methods and applications in neural networks.
