Through our work with the Stella Artois sites over the past few years we've developed a style of interactive movie experience that's a hybrid of a game and a filmed story. Our ambition has been to continue the cinematic legacy from the Stella Artois commercials while adding a layer of user interaction to the mix in order to let the user discover how 'perfection has its price'. As an example of how you can plan such a project and how you can think about interaction in a Flash video story, we'll explore a scene from Le Courage, where you have to save the brewmaster from falling off the edge of the world. In this project we had to think about a series of questions, such as: what is the goal of the scene? In what way can the user control the scene? How do we build up the scene, and how do we produce the graphics and the video we need? For the interactive Le Courage film, we chose not to use traditional game controls to make it feel less like a game and more like a movie, but this is something for you to think about when making a project like this.
