Earlier this year, I was honored when ASNEs Executive Director, Dennis Kruse, asked if I would serve as the "Guest Editor" for an edition of the Naval Engineers Journal. Dennis told me that the focus of this special edition of NEJ would be fleet maintenance and modernization. Having spent nearly my entire Navy career of more than 32 years working in this field, I was thrilled to accept. One of the first things I did was to reach out to Mike D'Amato, who had previously served as guest editor for the NEJ in a 2007 edition dedicated to fleet maintenance (the modernization component was added later). Also of note, Mike is the Chair of this years Fleet Maintenance and Modernization Symposium (FMMS). With Mike's help, I was off and running.
