Viper TA vs. Corvette ZR1 Winning by a Whisker

Fourteen feet is 6 inches less than the length of a Viper TA. Yet, after its fastest, 11,650-foot Laguna Seca lap, that's the distance by which the TA's new production-car lap record eclipsed the one Randy Pobst recently set in a Corvette ZR1. But as depicted here for comparison, had the two cars been running at the same time (needing two Randys, and there's only one of those), there'd be some serious bump-drafting going on at the finish line. The two cars' performances are so nearly identical that, during much of their laps, there's no discernable difference in their track positions. Even exiting the last corner (turn 11), their positions almost perfectly overlap each other.
